Do you want a wedding ceremony entirely bespoke to you? Do you want to hold your wedding ceremony in a non-traditional setting? Or perhaps you want to include a mix of symbolic, religious and traditional elements, or none at all? Whichever kind of wedding you want, a celebrant led celebration is for you.

Whether you’re a dating-app-duo who have fallen hard and fast, high school sweethearts ready to make the ultimate commitment, or non-binary baddies looking to stick a middle finger up to the patriarchy then I’m your gal!

Hannah understood the assignment! She was the best celebrant I’ve certainly ever seen at a wedding and as it was my own wedding, she was better than we expected!

HANDFASTING

SYMBOLIC ELEMENTS

You may have seen handfasting all over Pinterest and wedding-inspo posts, and there’s a reason why we love them so much.

Handfasting is an ancient Celtic tradition (those dudes must have been doing something right for us to still be using their methods thousands of years later ay?) that predates modern Christian weddings entirely. There there are many explanations for this ancient tradition one of the most common is that the couple’s hands were tied until midnight. It was said that if they could survive the trials and challenges of the day together, then they would survive in marriage.

Modern couples choose to do a handfasting for many reasons – as an excuse to get friends and family involved in the ritual; to create a keepsake using meaningful fabrics or colours; or simply to have a physical representation of their promises and union. No matter why you might choose to do a handfasting, the symbolism is strong and clear – as long as the knot remains tied your marriage will stay strong and steadfast. Lovely, right?
